The supernatural's not really a thing back in my world, but I've been to a bunch of different places across the multiverse and there's so, so

many variations of so many things!

There really are! It's exciting, isn't it? Every time you meet someone new there's so much to learn about them and their world.

And SOMETIMES you might meet people who seem familiar somehow, or where you hear details about their world or the people in it and you recognise it - but at the same time, not quite.

I haven't had that experience exactly, but I did meet two people from my world's future after coming here. That was pretty weird for me.

From your world specifically? Wow! That really must have been weird.

My examples are ...
Well, there's kind of a lot of them, but the best two might be: someone who heard about my world and thought it sounded really really really similar to manga they knew; and a really cool witch who namedropped a figure straight out of mythology, except it wasn't a myth for them, it was their actual real life.

It was! I got to find out that the company I work for collapses, which honestly serves them right even if it means I'll be out of a job soon when I go home.

Oh, I do know some mythological figures here, though.

I work for L Corp, generating energy through work with monsters. Pays well, but the mortality rate's not great.

What kind of things do you mean?
If you don't mind me asking, that is! It's one of those things that seems to mean wildly different things in different places.

Medusa like the Gorgon from Greek myth? With ... Perseus? It's been a while since I learned about it.

No, I get you, the term varies a lot! The technical term we use at home is 'Abnormalities' - powerful, intelligent, immortal creatures created from the human psyche. Frequently aggressive, almost always dangerous.

How DO you work with something like that? Especially if it's as dangerous as you've said.

Are you from a version of Earth? If you're familiar with Greek myth. Or is that something you've picked up here?

Memorizing detailed notes about their behavior from previous employees and getting very, very lucky. It's not a good job.

I mean, I read something about Medusa in a book once, so I guess it must be some kind of Earth for that to work? But the City is pretty wildly different from most Earths I've heard of.

What kinds of things do you do now that you're here instead?

Work-wise, I work at the Research Center! It's great being able to focus on developing things to help people instead of being focused on profit. For fun, I do a lot of reading, and a lot of flirting with cute nonhumans.

The inhabited part of my world is just called The City. It's about as big as a continent in most other worlds.
