A Debate [text | un: orator]
[ Lahabrea hasn't made his presence known much since his arrival here. Nevertheless, he has a question he wishes to ask that may spark a lively debate. He has no need for anonymity on his part, so this mysterious "orator" can be addressed accordingly. After much thought, he decides to type the following: ]
What makes you worthy of existence?
[That's just one of many questions to come.]
What makes you worthy of existence?
[That's just one of many questions to come.]

( Why is the network suddenly a philosophy class. )

The question is relatively simple: What makes you deserving of existence? Have you made any contributions to the Star from which you come?
Or do you exist solely because of your own will? If so, explain why.

i exist cause my parents fucked without a condom
( Obviously. As for why she's still here...
That's a question she's not answering. )

Aside from mating practices, if that is all your existence is about, you may not be worthy of continuing to exist.

and what if i'm not
what are you gonna do about it
( Kate no. )

aye
thats what you are when you kill someone
even if its legal for you
( A badge she knows she'll have to wear eventually. That the military sanctions the killing of other people doesn't make the act any less terrible. )

In order to achieve perfection, sacrifices must be made. This was the creed I always followed when creating some of the most influential creatures to ever exist. In spite of this, I'm now wondering if striving for perfection is what led to the downfall of my people.

This guy is definitely going on her weirdo list. That's a list growing longer by the day. )
probably
( You would think that this guy's talk about creating and unmaking would be reason enough for Kate to try and be a bit less blunt or a bit more careful about what she says to him, but... )
perfection's stupid
doesn't really exist
you could create
idk
a pretty beach and summer weather
and someone comes along and says "i don't like sunshine"
then it's not perfect for them is it
besides
if everything and everyone has to impress you
when does it stop
what if someone wants to be a gymnast
but they're never going to be good enough to win medals
do they deserve to exist?
why does your opinion on their existence matter more than anyone else's?
just cause you've got some magic?

If there is no such thing as perfection, what was I pursuing? This is the question that haunts me. The world I was attempting to create was one of perfect balance, with each creature serving a purpose and fulfilling its role. However, in doing so, I helped to herald the end. While Etheirys did not die at my hand, the Final Days did arrive.

how should i know
( Okay so she still has to be a little shit first. But really, that idea of a world seems so... boring? And she'll be the first person to say that change can be shit (her life has proved that enough already) but if all everything can ever do is fill a predetermined role...
Isn't that kinda sad? )
how'd it end
like
what caused the final days

He stares down at the text for a long while before finally replying. However, what he says next may confuse them even further.]
As we populated our perfect world with magicks, our world was suddenly tainted by great evil unbeknownst to us. Instead of creating life, we produced foul abominations that quickly turned on us and decimated our entire planet. All life ceased to be as the last dregs of our aether was slowly drained and ceased to be.

well
thats fucked
( Thank you for that excellent commentary, Katherine. )
magic seems pretty shit if it does that
( Well, truth is, she's already pretty certain magic and supernatural powers are shit. Her world has already shown that as a fact. )
