Hello everyone! Once again, for those who do and don't know me, I am Clavell. I hope you all are having a pleasant day, even with these surprises I assume many have been gifted.

I do, of course, mean those eggs left in a basket and hatching! As most know, I am from a world where these wonderful creatures known as Pokémon exist, and am very happy to help those with questions about their new friends.

[Up popped his Rotomphone with a wide smile before flipping around, displaying the Pokédex app for all to see--]

Yeah, I read up on it already. Honestly, this isn't the first time that I'm dealing with a possessed sword. My Muramasha was cursed by the ghost of its former owner when I got it! But, ah, it's a real sword.

[As if noticing that it's being talked about, the Honedge appears over his shoulder, and Hijikata's voice gains a downright whiny quality as he continues.]

Even if I look at its eye, it's hard to tell how it feels since it's got no eyebrow or anything! I guess I can try to go by sounds and body language, but honestly, I'm not even sure if it eats. I left food for it out, and it's gone now, but it didn't eat while I was around, so I'm not sure if Hinobuta didn't get to it somehow. I can't even tell if it's male or female...

[Seriously, how is he supposed to figure that out when it's a sword?! (OOC: Happy to RNG this again!)]

[As expected, honestly. Hijikata did absolutely seem the type to study well, take it all seriously.]

Then you should fare well with Honededge- that blade is very real after all, and it uses it's body to fight. Even coming from an egg, it has a very loyal fighting spirit that needs the same amount of attention and care to further hone itself and grow stronger. Patience is needed as well, as one might put into forging a blade.

[A difference between Hinobuta and the Honededge was visible, but Clavell still held faith even with that tone. Smile warm.]

Some pokémon prefer to eat in private, or take some encouragement to eat with the others as it's a welcomed part of the team. Right now everything is very new, and there is and adjustment period for newly hatched pokémon. I've faith you will do well, Hijikata, and find yourself with a different but still very loyal sword to be at your side. Honedge doesn't have any physical way to tell the difference, but if you would like I can see if my Rotomphone's pokédex can determine for you.

[Coin flip apparently demands male.]

[Clavell's ever-positive outlook makes Hijikata stop bemoaning his struggle, at least for the moment. "A very loyal fighting spirit"... honestly, that doesn't sound so bad at all. More and more, it seems like the Honedge might just be another well-matched pokémon for him.]

You've got a knack for seeing the potential of every and any pokémon, don't you?

[Well, that's what he's a subject matter expert for!]

[He'll zap his new pokémon into the Level Ball that came with it and head off to Blossomcrown! (It seems like his household will remain filled with nothing but men... it's just like back home in the Shinsengumi!) Of course, he'll gladly soak up any additional information Clavell has to share - and take the opportunity to admire the scholar's own strong pokémon!]

After so many years of research, and then watching the students of the Academy grow and learn? I believe it nearly impossible not to be able to spot it.

[Spoken with such a deeply fondness. Being able to watch such a thing as those students grow, and be able to spot connections? Something he treasured. Deeply so.]

I shall be here- and easy to spot, I imagine.

[Gyarados was likely the easiest to spot, having landed and settle behind the bench where Clavell sat- the others of his team entertaining themselves close by; or like Abomasnow, napping in the shade under a tree.

Applin was enjoying a treat beside Clavell, and of course he would wave once he spotted Hijikata.]

[Of course, Hijikata brought Hinobuta along as well - he wouldn't deprive it of meeting with other pokémon! Seeing the larger ones, the Emboar gets visibly excited. Immediately picking the frosty Abomasnow as a potential new rival, it runs up to it for what looks like a boisterous self-introduction.]

Hinobuta, play nice! - Thanks for making time for us, Mister Clavell. My Honedge's in here.

By the way, what kind of ball is this? Is is a special one for ghost pokémon or something?

[Better the Abomasnow than the still airborne Gyarados, honestly; Abomasnow was far more even tempered and patient, even as a purple eye cracked open and a low rumbling came with it's own introduction. A bit of snowfall around the large pokémon despite the weather around.]

Someone is excited, I see- and of course. More than happy to make time for you and your partners.

[The Level Ball was taken carefully, the Rotomphone already moving around and initiating a scan- which of course brought up information Hijikata would have already found- but also the weight, height, and the fact this particular Honedge was male- which it flipped around to show.]

Ah, it is one of several specialized pokéballs that exist. Level Balls are typically used to make catching a wild pokémon more likely to succeed if it is at a lower level than your own pokémon. Catching a wild pokémon isn't always easy, even with items and battling to weaken it, and some trainers wish to strengthen their odds at a successful catch. Others do simply take a shine to the designs of various pokéball types, have one they prefer to use based on that, or a ball better suits their personal style of catching pokémon.

[Hinobuta seems fascinated by the Abomasnow's cold aura and tries to raise the heat around itself in competition, but since there's no outright bullying going on, Hijikata devotes his attention to the Rotomphone's analysis results and Clavell's explanation after one more warning glance at his pokémon.]

Huh... there must be entire design lines out there, I assume.

[Figures - catching and battling with pokémon is a competitive sport, so it stands to reason that it would come with the usual merchandise and coveted boons!]

I don't think we've got any wild pokémon here on Ellipsa, but it's not like I could spare this pokéball, anyway... after all each pokémon needs one, right? How does the ball adapt to its specific needs?
