(1) are there any available facilities suited to mechanical engineering or computer programming that are open to free use?
(2) are permits required for tamed beasts to hunt in the surrounding forests, or are they free to do as they please?
(3) has anyone held captive here attempted to leave the boundaries of the various cities?
- if yes: are there consequences for attempting to leave?
(4) has anyone attempted communicating with their home?
- if yes: have you been successful?
[ the message is not signed, nor does seto bother with saying hello.
he's gone through as much information as he possibly can, and is familiar with the basic idea of the guilds... but playing a little stupid will spark conversation, and getting to know the people who know the ins and outs of this prison is only going to work to his advantage. in domino city, he needn't bother with pretenses; everyone knew who he was, and how much power he wielded, and therefore, people generally moved out of his way. here, he is (relatively) anonymous, and so will need to work twice as hard to get what he needs without his typical resources.
most importantly, however, is that he is going to lose his mind of boredom if he doesn't have an outlet, and piecing together the puzzle of this place is as good an outlet as any. it will distract him from the skin crawling feeling that he has no control in this place, and if there is one thing seto does not do well with, it is being told he has no choice.
so clearly, the answer is to build something. ]

how long have you been here?
[ i.e., is this a new person just doing whatever the hell they want, or is this an established quasi-local who knows the local rules?
either way, seto is going to allow blue eyes to do whatever the fuck she wants, but it's good to know whether or not he has to prepare for a lecture first. ]

[So it's either not a problem or everyone is too scared of her to try to stop her. Either way works for her just fine.
no subject
i'll take my chances, then.
the information is appreciated.

tame, for the most part.
but requires more food than the local grocer provides.

[She's talking about herself here, naturally - she has no idea what kind of animal he has.]

2. I don't believe so, but I can't say that I'm an expert on this in particular, so you might want a second opinion.
3. Definitely have had no success in trying to physically leave the boundaries, but it's less "I've tried" and more "I've heard and seen enough to know that it's not a good idea".
4. I have my devices from back home and they just don't seem to connect to being able to contact my home world, but that's just something that seems to be common with situations like this; for better or for worse.
no subject
2. noted.
3. what have you heard/seen?
4. the much is same for me. no service. you say situations - has something similar happened to you before?
no subject
3. That there's a barrier, along with the darkness if you're trying to go completely outside the borders.
4. I was in a world that wasn't my own before this one, yes. There are other people in this world who are in a similar boat: that they've been summoned and/or kidnapped to another world that wasn't their homeworld and then brought here.
no subject
so, point one - noted. point two, irritating news, but worth research.
the last point, however. that gave him pause, an uncomfortable weight forming in his stomach. ]
this has happened to multiple people, and no common source has been found? the kidnapper, etc.?
however they are doing it must be taking a substantial amount of power. it's not plausible that this has been an ongoing issue and no one has noticed.
no subject
Although the whole "kidnapping to another world" thing is variable, since while I've heard that there are others who have been in the same situation, but the worlds that they were sent to prior to this one are different. I personally haven't seen anyone who is familiar with the place I was sent to before this place, for instance.
Not to mention that the methods of being sent to those worlds might be different. This one uses like, a summoning circle. But the one that I was in before utilizes a machine.
no subject
he clamps down that line of thought. pointless to worry. need to focus on the issue in front of him. ]
the individuals who brought you to these places were different, or did you speak with them at all?
was the machine truly just a machine?
describe it.
no subject
And the machine was really just a machine, but it's not relevant to this world's specific summoning. The machine itself was rather large and had pipes going in rather incomprehensible places.
UN: Airplane
There's computers in the research center though, and you'd probably be able to find a cyber cafe in Nightwake.
no subject
you've had no difficulty learning how to use the available technology, then? have you been to those locations?
no subject
And sure. I could probably find you directions.
no subject
directions aren't needed; a coordinate is more than enough.
no subject
Sure, sure, lemme see if I can pinpoint it on the map and get those.
no subject
i was born in japan.
[ where is irrelevant. domino city, also irrelevant. the country should be more than enough. ]
where were you, then? america? south america?
no subject
[Time to see how well this guy knows his history.]

[ Yeah, there's just. Just a keysmash at first. Joy hasn't fiddled with her phone much, so she's not...all that proficient at using it yet. Also pressing buttons and seeing text appear is kind of fun. ]
I cannot answer any of these questions, because I do not know. But!!!! I can show you an illusion of your home, if you miss it.
[ She remembers there being a specific word that humans use when they miss home. Something about being ill? Home...sick??? ]
Also what is computer programming?
no subject
tell me how your illusion works, and i'll define computer programming.
no subject
It is magic! I infuse water with my power and enchant someone's senses with it. It lets me show them whatever they want to see.
no subject
computer programming is a technological process for telling a computer which tasks to perform in order to solve problems.
[ he can't think of a simpler way to describe it than that. it'll have to do. ]
your power.
how are you able to get the image from the person's home?
going into their mind?
no subject
[ She does not, in fact, see, but she thinks she gets the gist of it. It sounds like a complicated way of asking a computer to do something. Why you can't just say please is a mystery to her, but she isn't exactly an expert on this technology and computer stuff.
She can try to answer his other questions, though. ]
No, I do not go into anyone's mind. The magic does, I suppose, but I do not see anything unless I join the illusion.
You can think of it like...allowing someone to experience their thoughts and desires. With my magic, I could show them anything, not just their home.
un:happyaround
1) I think there's stuff at the Research Centre? I don't know if you have to ask though.
2) You mean like falconry and stuff? You have something like that? I don't see why not.
3) We do all the time for quests???
4) No... I wish we could, I miss everyone too. But maybe your friends will come here! Mine haven't, but a lot of people's have, or they've come together.
no subject
2. no. i have an animal that requires a large amount of food.
3. irrelevant. have people tried to leave this world?
4. i don't want the people i care about to be here.
[ that would mean mokuba is trapped in this prison too, though it's driving him up a wall that he can't check on him, or see him. ]

"in worlds."
how are you all so nonchalant of being removed from your homes?
being transported from place to place without your consent.
i've heard no outrage, only simple fact.

un: spinjockey
sure check the research center
but also check the library
you need an understanding of magic too.
and don't be afraid to make a mess of the machines around here
take them apart and figure it out yourself.
the technology and coding here
doesn't work like it does anywhere else.
it's close to what we had where i come from
CLOSE
but not the same.
i've been studying it since i showed up here.
you'll make the best progress just fucking shit up yourself.
no subject
i'm not worried about learning the new system.
i don't take half-measures when learning a new skill.
you mentioned an understanding of magic.
why is that necessary to access their computer system?
are they reliant upon one another?
no subject
magic tech.
insides full of magic
stays powered through magic too.
coding interacts with it here and there.
like i said, try the library
that place is full of magic too
if you go wandering around the aisles
it'll start to summon up the exact books you're looking for.
even ones from home.
i found some good programming manuals for this place that way
they're kind of old
but got a good basis for where to start.
from there,
buy some shit and yank it apart and study its insides.
gotta break some eggs to make an omelet and all that.
no subject
i am no stranger to teaching myself something supposedly difficult.
[ that being said, he does acknowledge the barrier already - he needs to have an understanding of magic, something he is notoriously awful at. he'll need to more fully explore this option. ]
how long have you been there?
no subject
got it.
you got that part handled.
as for "there", you mean the library?
i go there pretty often in general
not just the once to look for code books.
but i think that time i spent about five hours in there.
to be fair to me, though
i don't need to sleep or eat
so i wasn't too pressed on finding anything ASAP.

Hunting is allowed without permits.
Venturing out too far you will find the darkness and creatures empowered by it. It is dangerous to venture out alone or without first learning to use your new seasonal magic.
No. I have not though I have returned home for a time and came back. I did not control this happening.
no subject
the darkness and the creatures within reminds him of the yami no sekai... the dark world where the shadow games were played. something tentatively familiar, but also not exactly something he wants to go near without proper preparation. simply walking out of here is not an option. frustrating. ]
noted.
if you didn't control returning back to your own world, who did? do you know?

Regarding question four, I've tried some magical methods, but no successful results there.
no subject
does it simply not work, or are there repercussions for trying?

un: hardboiled; text
But really, you're stuck here for god knows how long. Might as well get used to it.
no subject
your irrelevant comment assumes people want to return home.
i have no idea who resides here, or what motivations they have.
perhaps they want to stay because their own world is worse.
or they're too lazy and/or stupid to come up with a proper solution.
or this place truly is an inescapable prison.
the only way to know for sure is to ask.
