(1) are there any available facilities suited to mechanical engineering or computer programming that are open to free use?
(2) are permits required for tamed beasts to hunt in the surrounding forests, or are they free to do as they please?
(3) has anyone held captive here attempted to leave the boundaries of the various cities?
- if yes: are there consequences for attempting to leave?
(4) has anyone attempted communicating with their home?
- if yes: have you been successful?
[ the message is not signed, nor does seto bother with saying hello.
he's gone through as much information as he possibly can, and is familiar with the basic idea of the guilds... but playing a little stupid will spark conversation, and getting to know the people who know the ins and outs of this prison is only going to work to his advantage. in domino city, he needn't bother with pretenses; everyone knew who he was, and how much power he wielded, and therefore, people generally moved out of his way. here, he is (relatively) anonymous, and so will need to work twice as hard to get what he needs without his typical resources.
most importantly, however, is that he is going to lose his mind of boredom if he doesn't have an outlet, and piecing together the puzzle of this place is as good an outlet as any. it will distract him from the skin crawling feeling that he has no control in this place, and if there is one thing seto does not do well with, it is being told he has no choice.
so clearly, the answer is to build something. ]

i'm not worried about learning the new system.
i don't take half-measures when learning a new skill.
you mentioned an understanding of magic.
why is that necessary to access their computer system?
are they reliant upon one another?

magic tech.
insides full of magic
stays powered through magic too.
coding interacts with it here and there.
like i said, try the library
that place is full of magic too
if you go wandering around the aisles
it'll start to summon up the exact books you're looking for.
even ones from home.
i found some good programming manuals for this place that way
they're kind of old
but got a good basis for where to start.
from there,
buy some shit and yank it apart and study its insides.
gotta break some eggs to make an omelet and all that.

i am no stranger to teaching myself something supposedly difficult.
[ that being said, he does acknowledge the barrier already - he needs to have an understanding of magic, something he is notoriously awful at. he'll need to more fully explore this option. ]
how long have you been there?
no subject
got it.
you got that part handled.
as for "there", you mean the library?
i go there pretty often in general
not just the once to look for code books.
but i think that time i spent about five hours in there.
to be fair to me, though
i don't need to sleep or eat
so i wasn't too pressed on finding anything ASAP.
