Mini Event: Network Misfires... 2!

It starts with a network post from a generic "researchcentre" account. The video feed shows what appears to be an empty cubicle, and a few employees gossiping in the background.

"Can't believe he brought the cat to work again."

"Who, Gary? Yeah, I heard Helene felt bad for him."

The cat in question creeps into the video, curiously nosing and pawing at the screen, as the conversation continues.

"I don't blame her. I saw his dream a couple weeks back, and Buttercup looked so sad alone at home!"

"Oh, that dream cloud thing? What a disaster. Can't believe Bartholomew holds down a job."

"At least it's been a couple years since the cat caused an incident..."

As if on cue, Buttercup gets bored and starts walking on the keyboard. The feed cuts off.

Welcome to a Mini Event! Much like last time around, the network server's having cat-related difficulty, so all network messages have a chance of going to the wrong recipient. It doesn't need to happen, but there's a high chance of misfires happening for the duration of the mini event.

This post can be used for sending out messages that can end up for anyone and everyone completely without meaning to. Feel free to also just send a blank message with your character and receive messages from others! Whatever works best for you and is most fun.

This event will happen for the whole weekend, starting from now and ending on late Sunday night (so March 6-9) once they finally manage to fix the mistake. As always, backtagging is encouraged.

Remember to put warnings up if you want to post anything NSFW-ish and especially link pictures; however, if anything gets explicit (e.g. sexting), remember to move it to inboxes or another post.

In the forest? Monkeys and zoo tickets, usually. They vary by region.

Zoo tickets? As in, entry tickets for the zoo?

[Was that a typo, or..? And monkeys aren't monsters either! Is this a kid she's talking to?]

The very same. If you are thinking 'that's a bizarre thing to make a monster out of', you are completely correct.

[Kantera knows now why zoo tickets and monkeys were monsters - but at the time, he'd just accepted them as fact.]

What can a zoo ticket even do?

[She's pretty sure that she's humouring a child here, but why not go along with it?]

Truthfully, not very much? They can hurt you with sharp edges, but they're fairly weak as monsters go.

So what about the turnimp plant? Did you give it into somebody's care?

I did, yes. Korone, Eve, Donatello - actually, that household has too many people to list them all by name, but. They have some quite extensive gardens and greenhouses, which my own house does not.

[She knows those people - not personally, but by name -, so that part is probably true, but whether the root really has a face or it's just this person's imagination, who's to say?]

That was good of you. Will you visit it to see how it grows?

Of course. I spend quite a bit of time at their house regardless, after all.

[Kantera..? Wait, isn't that the (very much adult) doctor, the one from Russell's world? Then, everything he said was true! She struggles to accept that there really are monstrous zoo tickets in their world-- but wait. Is he from Russell's world, or from his dream? In the latter sense, it'd all fall into place, wouldn't it?

She feels embarrassed to have take their exchange so lightly... granted, if she'd seen his face rather than only his semi-anonymous text messages, she wouldn't have, thought that he might be a kid!]

[She's joking, but she does have several different healing methods at her disposal! Granted, there may be times where she's out of her depth, and then it'll be very handy indeed to have a professional's number.]

In my line of work and with the kind of people that are in my social circles, yes.

[It's easy to joke via text message, but it's perhaps better if she doesn't dwell on her relationships with her fellow Eldians too deeply if she wants to remain in good spirits.]

Some of them are the latter. Some wouldn't call themselves heroes, but have no regard for their own safety and mental health either way.

There are many such people here. It has to be such a concern for a doctor (but for anyone else too, really). I hope your friends will all stay safe.

[Is that hypocritical of her to say? On the one hand, she developed better survival instincts since her arrival here, but on the other hand, her strongest tether to responsible behaviour, Historia, is gone.]
