Mini Event: Network Misfires... 2!

It starts with a network post from a generic "researchcentre" account. The video feed shows what appears to be an empty cubicle, and a few employees gossiping in the background.

"Can't believe he brought the cat to work again."

"Who, Gary? Yeah, I heard Helene felt bad for him."

The cat in question creeps into the video, curiously nosing and pawing at the screen, as the conversation continues.

"I don't blame her. I saw his dream a couple weeks back, and Buttercup looked so sad alone at home!"

"Oh, that dream cloud thing? What a disaster. Can't believe Bartholomew holds down a job."

"At least it's been a couple years since the cat caused an incident..."

As if on cue, Buttercup gets bored and starts walking on the keyboard. The feed cuts off.

Welcome to a Mini Event! Much like last time around, the network server's having cat-related difficulty, so all network messages have a chance of going to the wrong recipient. It doesn't need to happen, but there's a high chance of misfires happening for the duration of the mini event.

This post can be used for sending out messages that can end up for anyone and everyone completely without meaning to. Feel free to also just send a blank message with your character and receive messages from others! Whatever works best for you and is most fun.

This event will happen for the whole weekend, starting from now and ending on late Sunday night (so March 6-9) once they finally manage to fix the mistake. As always, backtagging is encouraged.

Remember to put warnings up if you want to post anything NSFW-ish and especially link pictures; however, if anything gets explicit (e.g. sexting), remember to move it to inboxes or another post.

I think it was something like Rin... The blond hyperactive girl who's always posting pet pics on the network?

[Of course he hasn't killed anyone, least of all Rinku, but he's a shitshow.]

[There might be other people who fit that description, but in her heart, Frieda immediately knows whom he means. He killed Rinku. Rinku, of all people.

She's is so furious, she struggles to find the right words. Rinku is kind to everybody - how could he not see the worth of her life?! She wishes she had him in front of her so she can crush him for good this time - and when he gets reborn, the police should be waiting to lock him away! Adachi will see her typing for a long time, clearly writing out a rant.]

Everybody here loves Rinku. She's a much better and worthier person than you or me or most of us.

The last time someone did something awful to a beloved otherworlder, that perpetrator was never seen again after all of his victims' friends mobilised against him.

[She never found out what exactly happened to Relius Clover, but after the battle, he was gone.]

You'll regret what you did.

You should be.

[That's the last message she sends before she'll inform Evangeline of his crime. For all she cares, she can unleash all her mind-destroying white damage on Adachi before slicing him in half with her scythe!

Unless Adachi quickly defuses her vengeful fury, he may just end up in more trouble than he bargained for.]

You're really gullible even now, aren't ya? First you trusted me blindly and now you believe something I said out of boredom.

You really need to start being more distrustful or you'll get even more hurt.

[Hah!! Of course he's backtracking now! He's trying to be casual and flippant about it, but she's sure that he's starting to sweat over her threat! Nevertheless, his message makes her hesitate. Instead of calling Evangeline right away, she first calls Rinku - who immediately picks up, chipper as ever and very much alive.

By the time Frieda hangs up, she feels equally angry at herself as at Adachi - why is she so gullible? But she battles those thoughts away. It's not wrong to assume the best of others!! Why should she feel bad when he's the criminal?]

What's it to you? Be glad you didn't actually murder Rinku. I wasn't joking or bluffing about the disappearance of that other man.

I'm just saying that one of these days you'll really end up on the flower yard.

But I'll keep that in mind in case I do want to disappear.

[She frowns at that... if he wants to disappear? Does he not care if he gets killed permanently (which may or may not have happened to Relius; she doesn't know)?

She doesn't reply back, but thoughts about why in the world Adachi is the way he is occupy her mind - until she decides to go out and distract herself with something that makes her happy. Perhaps she'll even ask Rinku or someone else to keep her company. This kind of self-preservation is something she's learned in her time here in Ellipsa.]
