[ Sup Ellipsa. Have a half-snake, half-human, man lounging in what appears to be the park in Nightwake. He seems grumpy as his long, winding tail, takes up a good portion of the video feed undulates, and thrashes a bit sporadically. Aeacinos himself is resting amount his coils. His clawed hand idly grips and relaxes over the shaft of his spear. ]

Who of amongst you is proficient in wielding weaponry? I wish to spar whoever comes forth. Those who are wielders of magic may use that during our session. I do not care about advantages or disadvantages. I merely wish to find worthy opponents.

[ A pause then as he gives a fanged smile. ] Perhaps I will allow the victors to ask for one favor from me as well.

[ Another pause as a sigh escapes him and that tail behind him whips and sways in an agitated sort of manner. ]

There is no war to be fought here and so...I will ask what does one do to pass the time? I am a bit lacking when it comes to what people call 'hobbies', the peace that is seemingly here makes me a bit restless. If there are beasts to kill or those who need a bodyguard, then I can provide my services. But I am no stranger to trying something new.

Hi, Aeacinos.

[The bespectacled nerd of indeterminate gender waved at the feed with a bright, toothy smile. It was only upon meeting a non-human on the feed that Athena realized how boring a lot of the population was on a visual level-- the technicolor hair colors didn't provide the same sort of variety that centaurs, shape shifting jellies, and tree people provided.

Perhaps time away from Earth had colored their opinion with the same technicolor hues? Time would only tell.

For the moment, the words that were only held back by the dam of politeness spilled forth.]

I know a little about not knowing what to do with yourself after a war-- I just wasn't on the front lines.

What sort of things did you do before the war? We can start there and work our way to some answers for you.

[They leaned forward with a manner that was equal parts that of a helpful librarian and that of a new friend. Was the snake man hot?

Certainly.

Was it a factor here?

Not necessarily... But the view was appreciated with respect.]

Well. Drinking can be a great way to get to know people-- but, no. I wouldn't consider that a hobby.

[They were also a skinny nerd-- but the conversation had Athena thinking. The overlap of 'hardened warrior' 'drinking' and 'defending a goddess' sounded like something from a mythic cycle.]

...We do need to find jobs at some point. Is teaching people how to fight something you'd consider here?

There can be a thousand teachers and there would still be room for you.

Every teacher has different methods, and every student learns differently. What might not work for one person will for another.

People are cool like that.

Me?

Oh- no, no.

[Athena shook their head, perhaps a little too emphatically. While they were no stranger to dealings with beings that had a body configuration unlike their own, physical combat was another thing.]

I'm not exactly optimized for front line fighting. I've got a few tricks, but I'm better as your support unit and your pinch-hit healer.

But-- there's probably plenty here who would love to learn from someone with your experience!
