(It's night and Padmé is on the beach, walking, barefoot, through the surf. Her dress is more like a robe, brushing against the sand with each step and her abundant hair is down, curling gently. She pauses, her toes dipping into the water just...barely.)

I can't sleep. Every time I close my eyes, I think of him; I think of all the ways I can fix what's been done. Having my hands tied here, even with the special powers, feels like a test.

I'm not as patient as I thought I was.

If you know something awful awaits you in your world, how do you cope with that knowledge here?

The power I know is different to that here. On my world, we call it magic, but also martial arts, depending what it is precisely and where. I know potions and spells.

[ Kexing shakes his head a little, understanding her reluctance to rely on something that might not always be there. ]

Then I will not provide a potion. I was thinking music, and there are meditations I can teach you to help.

Martial arts? That sounds closer to what the Jedi can do in my galaxy.

(Is it close enough? She hopes so.)

Those would be best learned in person. Where can I find you? How can I repay you for your kindness?

[ Kexing smiles abruptly and shrugs. ]

It is something a friend should do, isn't it? I already promised to cook for you! Why not extend the visit to help with the rest?

I am very lucky to have you as a friend. (And she won't take advantage of him.) A meal sounds nice. Shall I come over today?

[ He likes helping his friends! He doesn't have many of those. ]

I don't mind at all. Sometimes I visit Winter to enjoy the cold.

[ He'll make sure the fire is burning cheerfully! There's no reason for her to be cold inside as well.

Kexing smiles and shakes his head. ]

Only if you have a favorite drink. I'll take care of the rest.

I'm not picky and I look forward to what you create. (The fact that he can't eat isn't lost on her. This is really a true kindness.)

Don't worry, my A-Xu won't get in my way of cooking!

[ Zishu knows better! Something something CHEF KNIFE OF DOOM.

She'll be sent home with plenty of leftovers!

Kexing sends her a brief instruction on how to get to the cozy cabin he shares with Zishu. ]

I suggest riding a horse the last bit, both for warmth and speed.

Even if he did, I think we could forgive him.

(Padmé grins, sensing the love between the two men. She gets the instructions and starts walking back to her apartment to prepare.)

Plus that sounds like fun to me. I've ridden many mounts - never a horse.

[ For his part, he heads for the market to get ingredients for a fantastic meal for her. And dishes to bring leftovers home for later. ]

They're pretty smart, and the stables around here have good masters. They'll get you set up with an appropriate mount.

(She sets her communicator down where she can hear him, but not see him. She needs to change into something warmer!)

It will be difficult not to become attached. (Sweet animals of any breed have that effect on her.) I'll be good to them so I'll have a friend to visit in the stables too.

[ Well if she wants to keep talking, he can manage that and still get what they need! He does, however, switch to voice to give her more privacy. And maybe an air of secrecy to just what he's buying, as only a few comments can be picked up as he talks with some merchants. ]

That is a challenge, though I am sure you can succeed if you so wish. And whichever one you bond with will be happy to get visits.

(What a gentleman. Padmé notices the change and beams, switching her side to voice too. Then she goes about getting changed and seeing to her cosmetics. She doesn't have many of those, but her hair does need to be tamed!)

I may talk you into bringing them treats now and then for my sake.

[ He's a happily married man! He can appreciate a beautiful woman, but that's all he's interested in now. ]

My A-Xu and I already do that, but I suppose I can bring an extra for you sometimes.

(And she is a happily married woman. It's nice to be around someone who understands such a deep bond. ~~She also thinks Kexing's relationship with Zishu is adorable. She's a fan.~~)

You do? Why am I not surprised?

[ Oh yes. Kexing knows and understands deep bonds very well. He's thankful for them every day.

He chuckles and the grin can be heard in his voice. ]

You shouldn't be! Even less so once you meet the cute horses.

(She comes closer to her communicator and sits down, starting to brush and braid her hair.)

Are they furry? I somehow imagine them with magnificent coats.

[ She can likely hear a few merchants laughing at an aside comment from Kexing, but then he seems to move away from other people again. ]

Some of them have heavy coats, especially those here in Winter. Those that don't need as much warmth get their coats regularly trimmed.

(He is a charming man! She is only sorry she couldn't hear the comment.)

Adorable. (Yes, she already loves them.) Tell me, do you have a refrigerator by chance? Or a freezer?

[ He is the most charming! Other than Zhou Zishu, of course~ ]

Aah. We do. A-Xu and I have a puppy that we make sure is kept well fed.

Then I have something for you - to make your consumption of ice and snow more interesting.

(How does he feel about ice-cube trays that come in shapes?)

[ He will be fascinated! Interest clearly perks in his voice. ]

Aah? I look forward to seeing what you bring along!

(Who can say no to cute little stars and moons? Also she needs to buy some puppy toys because, well. Puppy.)
