So many people were sent here with the purpose of protecting this world.

But, home is different.

I guess it makes sense to be attached to where you came from. I don't think everyone here is concerned with or even capable of protecting this world, though. If people you know are here, why do you have to leave them and go back? Wouldn't they want you to be here if you're friends or family?

I'd never doubt that they'd want me to stay here. And, I want to stay here, too! But, there's too much at stake at home. There's... so many people I have to protect!

My responsibilities are something that I chose at home. Is it so strange to think that someone might want to go home for someone elses's sake?

I guess not. But you should do things for your own sake, too.

[ Eren has sort of the opposite position; his motivation for staying is sort of selfish, but it's also to save everyone who didn't already experience his apocalypse from ever having to. But sure, he can understand wanting to help others. He no longer sees himself as capable of doing that, or worthy of it. ]
