What a thought-provoking question.

I believe everyone deserves go be loved and cared for, but for myself to be worthy of it... perhaps not.

I find that I am blessed and lucky to be loved. I do not question what is given to me, just that I do not expect it from others.

I suppose that makes my beliefs rather contradictory.

To deserve is to expect, and I do not feel comfortable expecting others to love me. Or treat me a certain way because they do.

It does not feel right.

So I engineered a crisis that slowly killed off the population and then I replaced them with my puppets.
