I wasn't sure if I wanted to write this post or not, but at the end of the day, I wound up posting anonymously.

So, long story short: I want a girlfriend.

I keep winding up with male partners that I want to have a female partner for once in my life but then I realize my issue here: I don't have any female friends in this world.

TL;DR? Please send help and advice.

I don't date, only friends with benefits, so I can't really offer direct help even if you turn out to be my type...

But let's see, advice. How are you at approaching people in general? Not considering gender, just talking to people you don't know.

Yeah, I get the whole FWB thing, but it just isn't for me, I think.

Truthfully, I wouldn't say that I'm not the best at approaching people, though.I can do it, sure, but I'm not exactly the bubbly, excitable type. I'm more or less a bit more of a serious person.

Nothing wrong with that! It's important to do what you're comfortable with.

Being outgoing definitely helps for making friends, but if that's difficult... I think one of the easier ways to meet people is through a shared hobby? Like joining a book club, or challenging people at the arcade. Stuff like that.

Unfortunately, I don't think there are a lot of people who share the same hobby as I do here... at least for my main hobby, in any case.

I don't know either... Do they still have personal ads, like in the paper? I guess there's Cinder, but I haven't seen that post in a while. Oh, I know! You could make a poster or something!

I feel like personal ads or anything that puts myself out there would probably end up being way too weird for my tastes.

I'm already a bit of a public figure, so I'd be worried that people might try and become my friend slash girlfriend for less than pure reasons.

Like an idol? Huh... Maybe find other famous people? Or wait, if you're scared they wanna be popular, maybe find people who don't wanna be famous!

I'm not really interested in famous people- at least, not on the merit of someone being "famous" or "not famous", but rather I'd much prefer to be met on my own terms, as a person.

Unfortunately, I'm not good at that sort of thing.

I've opened up one too many times and have gotten burned. And while I've tried to get better about it, the whole ordeal is still something that I can't easily forget.

I know that feeling all too well. The world isn't always unicorns and rainbows... but, the desire to make a small part of it that way keeps it going.

Besides, I arrived here believing that I should stay in my wheelchair as punishment for other things...

People can change based on their experiences and the people they meet. That much I understand.

I don't have the sunniest outlook on life. In fact, I'd argue that I'm much darker than a lot of people. Even though I've been trying to get better about it... that's still difficult, for someone like me.

Not really much of a dancer, unfortunately. Or into clubs, for that matter... they're a bit too bright for me, and I can't say I'm really that great at handling big crowds.

Putting yourself out there can be hard, but it's the only way you'll find the partner you want. Talk to more girls, flirt with them if that's your thing, and if you're attracted to them ask them on a date or something.

Just try not to overthink it, you know?

It's ironic to say that I don't really care for that sort of thing when I'm a content creator.

I think I see what you're going for, but it doesn't have to be only female friends that are the key. If you have any really good GUY friends, they can probably help you with breaking the ice and finding someone too.

Some of my best wingmen have been- well... men. What's important is that you have at least one person who knows you well. Do you have anyone like that yet? And if you don't, are you willing to open yourself up to let someone?

It's not the only reason why it'd be awkward, though.
